A brief history!

As with many chapels, the initial gatherings were in the homes of local people : in this case Edward Jones and John Llwyd. The first chapel called “The Rose” was opened in September 1838 and is the current home of James Griffiths – a regular member of the congregation. This served as the spiritual meeting place for over 50 years including the period 1889-1891 while the current chapel was being built. A winter storm finally forced the vacation of “The Rose”, with the proceeds of £17, meeting the final installment of the loan outstanding on the new chapel.

In September 1988 the chapel celebrated the 150th anniversary of establishing the Wesleyan (Methodist) cause in the area. In 1938, when the 100th anniversary was held, a small booklet was published.

Hanes byr!
Fel roedd y drefn gyda llawer o gapeli, y gwasanaethau cynnar oedd yng Ngatrefi pobl leol; sef, Cartrefi Edward Jones a John Llwyd. Agorodd y capel gyntaf “Y Rhosyn” ym Mis Medi 1838 yng nghatref presennol James Griffiths – aelod rheolaidd o’r gynulleidfa. Gwasanaethodd y ty yma fel lle addoli am dros bum deg mlynedd gan cynnwys y cyfnod rhwng 1889-1891 tra roedd y capel presennol yn cael ei adeiladu. Yn y diwedd gorfododd storm gaeaf i’r capel “Y Rhosyn” i gau gyda elw o £17 yn cyfarfod y taliad olaf o’r benthyciad ar y capel newydd.

Yn mis Medi 1988 dathlodd y capel pen-blwydd 150 mlynedd o sefydlu achos y Methodistaidd Welseyaidd yn yr ardal. Yn 1938 tra cynhaliwyd pen-blwydd can mlynedd, cyhoeddwyd llyfryn bach.
